At what point does it become obvious that you have “Too Much Stuff”. This is definitely open for interpretation, maybe you have too much clutter, or maybe you are some crazy couponer and you have your own personal Albertsons in your basement. Or maybe you have too much money….. Yes I said money but we will get to that in a minute. Lately I have noticed that there are a ton of people who have too much of something and they do not see it at all, please understand that I am not excluding myself in this thought. I know I have too much of some things and that is never a good thing to have a huge overabundance of “stuff” that you and your family can not use on your own when someone else out there may never have the chance to experience whatever that item is.
Lets dig a little deeper into this and see whose feathers we can ruffle, lately Becky has been watching this show called extreme couponing and these people are in my own opinion ” INSANE” not because they like to save money but because of the overwhelming urge they all seem to have to want to stock up on items that they will never in their entire lives use. One of the guys on there had something like 20,000 bottles of body wash in his basement/hoarding room. Think about that for one second… we have 365 days in a year so he can use a new bottle of body wash everyday for the next 54 years. Hmmm Seems to me like you have too much. Why do I care that Joe Blow has a million hygiene products and 5,000 bottles of mustard and 2600 boxes of cereal. Well because I drive by people on the way to work daily that have no soap, have not eaten in 2 days and will probably never have more that a quarter box of cereal at a time, I know what some of you are saying, ” That doesn’t matter, Joe Blow earned those things and the other person did not.” I guess in a sense you are correct but why can’ the guy that just spent ¢36 on $1,000 worth of groceries keep what he needs and give the rest to a shelter or something, I would think that would make saving the $964 worth the fact that you then fed 500 people on ¢.36. In this case I think this is a case of having Too Much Stuff.
In my mind I think there are tons of examples of people having too much stuff, money being one of them. I have met a lot of people especially living in Vegas that have too much money, go ahead…. say it… ” Raymond, you can never have too much money” My answer to that is Yes you can, I think money is a blinder and deceiver to be honest with all of you reading this. Don’t get me wrong, I am not saying that money is not important to live because it is but too much of it is bad. The blinder aspect of money is obvious, money can cause people to put on a hypothetical blinder and not care who they run over on the way to the pay-day, I guess in the business world this is somewhat expected but friends and family get this treatment by their own. As far as money being a deceiver I think that is also something obvious you can see everyday on national television. Watch Tv for one hour tonight and pay attention to the adds and shows, in that one hour span you will have seen at least 4 adds glamorizing what money can do for you and how much happier you will be once you reach that pinnacle of being able to spend all you want when you want. From the people who I have had a chance to meet that are in this situation, I can tell you they are nothing like the commercials, they actually in most cases are some of the most miserable people I know. Money can’t buy love and happiness regardless of what society tells us. Again, I think this is a case of Having Too Much Stuff.
I try my hardest to think about things in relation to myself and how I can either improve myself through the thoughts or help others to improve something within themselves by sharing things that some people may not be able to share without upsetting someone. I have no hang up when it comes to upsetting anyone with any of this. By reading this if you in any way get upset maybe it is time to take a look at yourself and figure out what it is that you have too much of and why you are so upset about coming to the realization of it. Once more, these are just my thoughts on the topic of having too much stuff, and as I mentioned in the beginning “Too Much Stuff” is open for interpretation and you may not feel the same about any of the things I wrote about and if that is the case, feel free to share your comments about it here. Turn Your Thoughts Inside out!

I’ve never seen the Extreme Couponing show, but most of the coupon people on-line (couponmom.com for example) stress the idea of donations to local shelters and churches when certain items can be gotten for free. I’m not an extreme couponer myself but I do use their tips occassionally and didn’t want anyone to think every person who does the coupon stuff is crazy or disturbed. 🙂
I like your blog. It’s very positive and not an ugly word in sight. That’s very refreshing!
I am all for couponing but if you get a chance to check out that show you should. Most of the people on that show will say that it is a big game to them to see how much they can get and for how little and so far all the episodes I have watched they all have HUGE rooms with an over abundance of stuff.
Thank you for taking time to stop by and read my blog, I really appreciate it

Kind of like big game hunting and those morbid stuffed heads, um “trophies,” on the walls? Or maybe they’re preparing for the nuclear holocaust? I think I get it now.
Ha, you could have just hit the nail on the head… They are preparing to live in that basement along with the neighborhood for quite some time.
